Amazon India Announces Major E-Invoicing Changes: What Sellers Need to Know

Transition to New GST Suvidha Provider Aims to Streamline E-Invoicing Process

By Staff Writer

In a significant update that will impact numerous sellers on its platform, Amazon India has announced a change in its e-invoicing system. Effective April 17, 2024, Amazon India is migrating to Cygnet Infotech Private Limited (Cygnet), a new e-invoicing provider, from Vayana Network Services (Vayana), its current provider. This transition to a new GST Suvidha Provider (GSP) will provide sellers with a more efficient and reliable e-invoicing experience.

As an e-invoicing-eligible seller on the Amazon India platform, sellers will need to generate new e-invoicing API credentials and provide them on Seller Central by April 17, 2024. Failure to do so will result in e-invoicing failures for all non-store transactions, such as transshipments and liquidation.

This change is part of Amazon's efforts to comply with India's e-invoicing regulations. These regulations require businesses above a certain turnover threshold to generate e-invoices through authorized providers. Sellers must act quickly to ensure a seamless transition and avoid disruptions to their business operations.

Key Things Sellers Need to Know:

1. Generate New E-Invoicing Credentials: By April 17, 2024, you must generate new e-invoicing API credentials from the new provider, Cygnet Infotech, and update them on your Seller Central account.

2. Non-compliance Risks: If you neglect to provide the new credentials, e-invoicing will fail for all your non-store transactions, such as transshipments and liquidation. This could lead to significant operational challenges. Ensure you update your credentials by April 17, 2024, to avoid these risks.

3. Review E-Invoicing Eligibility: You can check your e-invoicing eligibility status on the official GST portal at https://einvoice1.gst.gov.in/. This change will impact only eligible e-invoice sellers.

4. Stay Informed: Regularly check the E-Invoicing FAQ on Seller Central for the latest updates and guidance from Amazon.

5. Potential Challenges During Transition: While the change aims to improve efficiency, sellers might face initial challenges as they adapt to the new system. To mitigate any potential disruptions, sellers should familiarize themselves with Cygnet Infotech's interface and features ahead of time.

This transition is part of Amazon's ongoing efforts to streamline its operations and comply with evolving regulatory requirements in India. Sellers who act quickly to update their e-invoicing credentials will be able to avoid disruptions and continue selling seamlessly on the platform.
