Amazon India has announced a series of fee updates for sellers on its platform, which will come into effect from November 15, 2025. The official update, shared on Seller Central, outlines adjustments in storage, refund, and closing fees, along with a change in how Ship in Own Container (SIOC) shipments are handled at fulfillment centers.

Fee revisions for sellers
Starting mid-November, storage fees will increase by INR 5 per cubic foot per month. However, refund fees for certain categories such as Apparel and Shoes will see a decrease, offering relief to sellers in these high-return segments.

Changes in return and closing fees
Under the new policy, Amazon will no longer reimburse closing fees for customer return orders, although referral fees will continue to be reimbursed. Reimbursement will remain applicable for undelivered and rejected orders. This change is aimed at streamlining the cost structure related to returns, aligning it more closely with operational processes.

Improved fee calculation for SIOC shipments
A major update comes for sellers using the Ship in Own Container (SIOC) option. The default packaging material weight addition—previously 100 grams for standard items and 500 grams for heavy or bulky shipments—will now be removed from the Weight Handling Fee (WHF) calculation at fulfillment centers. This adjustment ensures that WHF charges more accurately reflect actual handling costs and benefits sellers who optimize their packaging through SIOC.

The modification applies only to SIOC shipments from fulfillment centers. Non-SIOC packages will continue with standard packaging weight additions.

Amazon’s message to sellers
In a message to sellers, Amazon thanked its partners for their continued support and reaffirmed its commitment to improving seller experience. “Your dedication has helped make us one of the most visited marketplaces in India,” the statement read. The company emphasized that these changes aim to create a fairer and more transparent fee system that supports efficiency and cost optimization.

Additional details and support
All revised fees are listed excluding Goods and Services Tax (GST). An 18 percent GST will be applied to all applicable charges. Sellers can review the full fee schedule on Seller Central under the “Details of the fee changes” section. Amazon has also invited feedback on the new structure through the [in-fee-feedback@amazon.com](mailto:in-fee-feedback@amazon.com) email and advised sellers to contact Seller Support for specific queries.

The updated fee structure reflects Amazon India’s ongoing effort to balance operational costs with seller benefits. While the storage fee increase might add marginal pressure, the improved SIOC handling fee system and reduced refund charges in key categories indicate a move toward efficiency and seller-friendly policies. Sellers are encouraged to review the complete fee schedule before the changes take effect on November 15, 2025.
