New GenAI tool aims to simplify business operations for Amazon sellers
Amazon has unveiled its latest innovation for sellers, "Project Amelia," a generative AI-powered assistant. Amazon says the selling assistant is designed to streamline business management and offer tailored solutions to Amazon sellers.
In an official blog, Mary Beth Westmoreland, who is VP of Amazon's Worldwide Selling Partner Experience, announced that Project Amelia is now available in beta for a select group of US sellers. She added that the company plans for a global rollout later this year. Earlier this month, Amazon launched its AI-based shopping assistant 'Rufus' across major markets, including the UK and India.
Simplifying the Seller Experience with AI.
Managing various aspects of their business—from product development to inventory management and sales forecasting—can be challenging for independent sellers on Amazon. Project Amelia is designed to help alleviate these challenges by acting as an all-in-one, always-available virtual assistant. Powered by Amazon Bedrock, the AI system combines broad world knowledge with deep expertise in Amazon's selling ecosystem, providing sellers with personalized responses to their queries.
Westmoreland highlighted the system's role: "Project Amelia provides sellers with an all-in-one, generative AI-based selling expert that is always available to immediately provide sellers with the answers, advice, and tools they need to succeed."

Key Features of Project Amelia
1. Knowledge-based Responses:
Sellers can ask specific questions, such as "What are the top things I need to do to prepare for the holiday season?" and receive detailed answers, best practices, and personalized advice. This helps sellers easily navigate through complex topics like market trends, advertising strategies, and compliance issues.
2. Business Metrics and Performance Insights:
The AI assistant allows sellers to access business-critical data instantly. For example, by asking, "How is my business doing?" sellers receive up-to-date summaries on sales performance, units sold, customer traffic, and other key metrics. Users can drill down further by inquiring about specific products to get more detailed reports.
3. Actionable Solutions and Issue Resolution (Coming Soon):
Amazon plans to expand Project Amelia's capabilities by allowing it to resolve seller issues and take actions on their behalf. For example, if a seller notices a discrepancy in inventory reports, they can ask Project Amelia to investigate the issue or initiate a support request to resolve it swiftly.
Personalized AI Assistance
A standout feature of Project Amelia is its ability to learn and adapt to individual sellers' needs over time. As sellers continue to interact with the AI, it becomes increasingly personalized, offering deeper insights and anticipating sellers' requirements. Westmoreland added, "This is only the beginning for Project Amelia. As sellers begin interacting with it, the technology will learn and evolve, leading to more comprehensive and personalized responses."
Future Rollout Plans
Currently available to a limited group of U.S.-based sellers, Project Amelia is expected to roll out to more sellers in the coming weeks. By the end of the year, Amazon plans to make the tool available in additional countries and multiple languages, further extending its support to global sellers.
Amazon's Project Amelia marks a significant leap in leveraging AI to assist its selling partners. With its powerful capabilities, sellers can look forward to managing their businesses more efficiently, saving time, and driving growth with ease. As Amazon continues to refine and expand Project Amelia, it aims to become an indispensable tool for sellers worldwide, helping them thrive in the competitive e-commerce landscape.
