Amazon Joins Hands with Schools for Community Impact
Amazon Partners to Deliver Food, Hygiene Supplies, and Financial Support During the Holiday Season
The holiday season often brings out the best in community spirit, and this year is no exception in Luxembourg. Amazon’s Global Procurement Organization (GPO) joined hands with St George’s International School to support local non-profit organizations dedicated to addressing food and hygiene insecurity. Their combined efforts not only showcased the power of collaboration but also helped brighten the festive season for many in need.
When large companies like Amazon work together with schools, they can create a meaningful impact in their local communities. In this case, more than 170 volunteers, including Amazon employees, students, and staff, packed over 800 boxes filled with necessities, such as toiletries, clothes, toys, non-perishable food, and hygiene products. These boxes were distributed to five well-known charities—Croix Rouge Luxembourg, Stroossenenglen, Hellef Um Teller, Serve The City, and LUkraine—reaching nearly 3,000 people who rely on community support.
The “Every Plate Matters” Campaign
This initiative was part of Amazon’s “Every Plate Matters” campaign, which runs from October 1 to December 31, 2024. Through this campaign, Amazon’s GPO is joining forces with 3,000 employees, 2,000 suppliers, 580 non-profits, and numerous community partners worldwide to tackle food and hygiene insecurity issues. The goal is to show that even one meal or one essential box can make a huge difference in someone’s life.
Unifying Efforts for Greater Impact
• Volunteer Power: A total of 170 volunteers came together for this event. This included Amazon employees from various departments and students of all ages from St George’s International School. The students ran a donation drive within their school community, contributing items they collected to these boxes.
• Packing Over 800 Boxes: Volunteers assembled 300 shoe boxes containing toiletries, toys, games, and clothes, plus an additional 500 boxes containing non-perishable food and hygiene items.
• Cash Donations: Beyond the essential supplies, Amazon provided €5,000 to each of the five participating charities, helping these organizations continue their community welfare programs.

In an official announcement, Virginie Vast, Head of Community Impact for Amazon’s Global Procurement Organization, said, “At Amazon, we believe in the power of collaboration with suppliers, employees and local partners such as schools to make a meaningful difference in communities where we operate”. She added, “Today’s event in partnership with St George’s is a prime example of how we can amplify our impact by working together to make a difference, one meal at a time. We’re not just providing immediate relief to thousands of people in need – we’re supporting the ongoing efforts of local non-profit organisations to combat poverty and improve lives.”
Impact on the Community
These combined efforts offer tangible relief during a time of heightened need. According to STATEC, Luxembourg’s national statistics agency, around 2% of the population relies on charitable support. By sending out hundreds of boxes and allocating funds directly to vital community organizations, Amazon and St George’s International School have boosted the existing efforts to reduce poverty, hunger, and hygiene challenges in the region.
When organizations and communities unite, the results can be truly transformative. This partnership between Amazon’s GPO and St George’s International School serves as a shining example of how collective action can create positive change for those facing hardships. By stepping up together—especially during the holiday season—these volunteers have shown that every plate matters, every act of kindness counts, and every donation can light up someone’s day. Through coordinated efforts, Luxembourg’s local non-profits have received critical support to continue their mission of helping individuals and families overcome life’s challenges. This collaboration stands as a powerful reminder that by working together, we can improve lives, one box at a time.
