A growing number of independent sellers on Amazon achieved record business growth in 2025, according to a new Small Business Empowerment Report shared through Amazon Seller Central. The report offers fresh insights into how sellers are scaling their operations with the help of AI-powered tools, logistics support, and expanding customer demand across the marketplace.

The latest figures indicate that more than 75,000 independent sellers crossed USD 1 million in annual sales during 2025. This marks a sharp 36 per cent increase compared to 2024. Amazon also said that US-based independent sellers averaged more than USD 375,000 in annual sales, reflecting nearly 30 per cent year-on-year growth.

The report further stated that independent sellers now account for more than 60 per cent of all sales made in Amazon’s online store. The update was published on Seller Central as part of Amazon’s continuing effort to highlight seller success stories and marketplace growth trends.

AI tools become central to seller growth
One of the biggest highlights of the report is Amazon’s increasing focus on artificial intelligence tools designed specifically for sellers. The company said its Seller Assistant AI tool recorded more than 230,000 monthly users in 2025.

According to Amazon, sellers accepted more than 90 per cent of the AI-generated recommendations provided by Seller Assistant. The tool is designed to help sellers manage inventory, improve listings, identify growth opportunities, and streamline business operations.

Christine Krogue, founder and CEO of Smart Sheep, described the tool as “like having a business expert at your fingertips.”

Amazon also revealed that its generative AI listing tools helped sellers create more than 12 million sales-ready product listings. These tools are aimed at reducing the time sellers spend on writing product descriptions, titles, and backend listing details.

For sellers planning catalog expansion, Amazon highlighted Product Opportunity Explorer, a tool that helps identify unmet customer demand, pricing trends, and product gaps within categories.

Mohamad Sam, owner of purifyou, said the tool significantly reduced research time. “What used to require hours of research now happens in minutes,” he said.

Why this matters for Amazon sellers
The report sends a strong signal that Amazon is continuing to invest heavily in seller-focused technology and automation. For both new and established sellers, the update highlights how AI-driven systems are becoming increasingly important for staying competitive in the marketplace.

Sellers can particularly benefit in areas such as:
• Faster product listing creation
• Improved keyword and content optimization
• Better inventory planning
• Product research and niche discovery
• Reduced operational workload
• Smarter pricing and packaging decisions

Industry experts believe that sellers who actively adopt Amazon’s AI tools early could gain an advantage in scaling faster while lowering operational costs.

FBA tools and logistics support expand further
Amazon said it launched more than 20 AI-powered Fulfillment by Amazon tools during 2025. These tools are designed to improve fulfillment efficiency and reduce shipping-related expenses.

Among them is the AI-powered Packaging Recommendations feature, which helps optimize packaging sizes and shipping methods. Amazon said the feature can help sellers save money on every order while also improving delivery efficiency.

The company continues to focus on strengthening logistics infrastructure as sellers increasingly depend on faster delivery and lower fulfillment costs to remain competitive.

Rural and small-town sellers see strong presence
The report also highlighted the economic impact of independent sellers beyond major cities. According to Amazon, sellers collectively employed more than two million people to support their Amazon-related businesses.

States such as Wisconsin, New York, Texas, Michigan, and Iowa recorded some of the highest numbers of independent sellers operating in rural areas and small towns.

This reflects a broader trend of ecommerce enabling entrepreneurs from smaller regions to access national and global customers without the need for large physical retail infrastructure.

Growing importance of AI in ecommerce
The Seller Central update also reflects a wider shift taking place across the ecommerce industry. AI is increasingly becoming a key part of marketplace operations, helping sellers automate repetitive tasks and make faster business decisions.

Many third-party sellers are now using AI not only within Amazon’s ecosystem but also across external tools for advertising optimization, image generation, customer service automation, and analytics.

As competition intensifies across marketplaces, technology adoption is becoming an important factor separating fast-growing sellers from stagnant businesses.

Amazon’s 2025 Small Business Empowerment Report paints a strong picture of marketplace growth powered by independent sellers and AI-driven innovation. With more sellers crossing major revenue milestones and Amazon continuing to introduce automation tools, the marketplace is becoming increasingly data-driven and technology-focused.

For Amazon sellers, the report offers both encouragement and direction. It highlights that sellers who actively use Amazon’s AI tools, improve operational efficiency, and adapt to changing ecommerce trends may be better positioned to scale their businesses in the coming years.

The Seller Central update also reinforces Amazon’s long-term focus on empowering independent businesses through technology, fulfillment support, and marketplace expansion opportunities.
