Amazon to Skip Distributors in Europe
In a significant change to its product sourcing in the European Market, Amazon has decided to skip distributors and source products directly from brands in Europe. However, the existing distributors can sell on Amazon as third-party merchants.
Referring to an official confirmation by Amazon, CNBC reported that the new policy change would be effective from April 2023. This will give wholesalers and distributors time to adjust to the changes.
Notably, distributors sell to Amazon directly at wholesale prices through Amazon Vendor Central, and Amazon resells the items and controls retail prices. This decision has been seen as a step to gain greater control over Amazon’s relationship with brands, including more influence over cost and product selection.

Amazon EU SARL informed distributors that it will not make any purchases from them from 15 January, 2024.
It further advises the affected distributors to contact Amazon's vendor support team through Vendor Central.
