Amazon Updates Its Automated Handling Time Feature to Give Sellers More Control and Flexibility
Amazon has announced some improvements to its automated handling time feature, which helps sellers to show more accurate delivery promises to customers based on their past performance and to protect them from order surges by adjusting the handling time accordingly. The feature is available for seller-fulfilled orders and can be enabled or disabled by sellers at any time.
This announcement was made on the Seller Central platform of the company.

The automated handling time feature works by setting a SKU-specific handling time for each product based on the seller's historical shipping performance. The feature also monitors the seller's order volume and adjusts the handling time dynamically to prevent the seller from being overwhelmed by a sudden increase in orders.
The feature aims to improve the customer experience by reducing the number of late shipments and cancellations, as well as to increase the seller's visibility and sales by showing more realistic delivery dates.

Some of the enhancements that Amazon made to the feature include:
- Same-day handling time: The feature will apply a same-day handling time to SKUs that are shipped on the same day as the order is received. This will allow sellers to offer faster delivery options to customers and to compete with Prime-eligible products.
- Override for order-handling capacity: The feature will set the order-handling capacity based on the past performance, but sellers can manually override it if their operations improve. This will give sellers more control and flexibility over their handling time and delivery promises.
- Option to revert to previous handling time: If sellers decide to switch off the feature, it will revert their SKU-specific handling time to what it was before they enabled the feature. This will ensure that sellers do not lose their previous settings and can easily switch back to the feature if they want to.
Amazon has also provided a video that explains the feature in more detail and a page where sellers can enable the feature. The video can be accessed [here] and the page can be accessed [here]. The announcement from Amazon can be read [here].
The automated handling time feature is one of the many tools and services that Amazon offers to its sellers to help them grow their business and provide a better customer experience. Amazon encourages its sellers to take advantage of the feature and to share their feedback and suggestions.
