Amazon has issued a new reminder to all sellers on its Seller Central platform, emphasizing the importance of activating vacation mode before taking time off this summer. This update aims to help sellers avoid problems related to missed shipments and protect their account performance.

Why vacation mode matters for sellers
When sellers enable vacation mode, Amazon temporarily removes their seller-fulfilled listings from product detail pages and search results. This step ensures customers cannot place new orders that the seller may not be able to fulfill on time. Without activating vacation mode, missed shipments can negatively impact several key performance metrics, including late shipment rate, valid tracking rate, order defect rate, and pre-fulfillment cancellation rate.

Simple steps to enable vacation mode
Amazon has made it easy for sellers to activate vacation mode:
* Go to Store Status and Vacation Settings on Seller Central.
* Click Edit.
* Under Vacation status, use the toggle to set your store status to “On vacation.”
* Once this is done, all seller-fulfilled listings will be hidden from customers until the seller returns and disables vacation mode.

Protecting your seller metrics during breaks
Sellers who plan to take a break—whether for a few days or several weeks—are strongly encouraged to use vacation mode. This not only protects their account health but also prevents negative customer experiences caused by delays or cancellations. Good account health ensures sellers remain eligible for Amazon’s programs and maintain their competitive standing on the platform.

Additional tips for sellers before taking a break
* Notify regular customers in advance about your time off.
* Ship all pending orders before activating vacation mode.
* Update your return settings and customer service templates if necessary.
* Review the latest Seller Central guidelines on handling absences.

By following Amazon’s advice and activating vacation mode, sellers can enjoy their breaks without worrying about their account performance. This simple step, now highlighted on Seller Central, helps maintain seller credibility and ensures a smooth experience for both sellers and buyers on the platform. For more information, sellers can refer to the detailed instructions available in Seller Central’s “Listing status for vacations, holidays, and other absences” section.
