Doug McMillon to Continue as Walmart CEO
Doug McMillon will continue as Walmart Inc's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) until the company finds his successor, reports WSJ, citing people familiar with the matter. Doug McMillon, 56, has led the company as President and CEO since 2014.
He is set to continue as the fifth CEO of the company and hold the post for more than a decade if reports are to be believed. However, the company did not make any official statement on this news report.
Doug McMillon is an American businessman presently serving as Walmart Inc's President and CEO. He was born on October 17, 1966. He became the fifth CEO of Walmart Inc in 2014. Before starting as CEO of Walmart Inc, Doug McMillon was CEO of Walmart US from 2009 to 2014.
Under his leadership, Walmart is aiming to make life easier for busy families and build trust with customers. The company is investing hugely in associate wages, benefits and education—including a debt-free college program and an expanded parental leave policy. Under his visionary leadershipWalmart International’s sales growth outpaced Walmart US and grew to 29 percent of total sales company-wide. The company also acquired a majority stake in South Africa’s Massmart Holdings Ltd. for US$ 2.4 billion. Additionally, Walmart has invested heavily in associate wages, benefits and education including a debt free college program and an expanded parental leave policy.
Under his leadership, Walmart is also expanding its footprint in healthcare. In 2019, Walmart unveiled its first health center. The retail giant plans to open 28 new Walmart Health centers in coming years which will the total number of locations to more than 75. These centers offer a variety of services including primary care, labs, X-ray and EKG, counseling, dental, optical, hearing and more.
