The eBay Foundation has announced the appointment of Rebecca Spencer and Scott Andrews to its Board of Directors. These new appointees are set to bring diverse expertise and fresh perspectives, enhancing the Foundation's mission to drive social impact through community empowerment and entrepreneurship.

Under the new appointments, Rebecca Spencer assumes the position of Chief Financial Officer of the Board, while Scott Andrews joins as a board member and Secretary. Their responsibilities include helping shape the Foundation’s strategic goals and guiding collaborations with nonprofits to expand economic opportunities.

Rebecca Spencer: Financial Expertise with a Heart for Service
Rebecca Spencer, eBay’s Chief Accounting Officer, has been with the company for six years and brings significant experience in financial oversight. Her background includes roles at GE Aviation and Ernst & Young LLP, where she honed her accounting and advisory skills. She also served 23 years in the US Air Force Reserves.

In her words, “I am honored and elated to join the eBay Foundation Board as the Chief Financial Officer of the Board,” said Rebecca. “I value this special opportunity to contribute directly to the direction and impact of the Foundation’s mission and to enrich and empower communities by connecting people to opportunities and resources.”

Scott Andrews: Legal Expertise and Dedication to Empowerment
Scott Andrews has dedicated over a decade to eBay in various leadership positions, including intellectual property, third-party risk management, and Mergers & Acquisitions. He has also counseled eBay Inc.’s Board of Directors and StubHub. Scott has offered pro bono legal support to entrepreneurs from marginalized communities outside his professional duties, reflecting his commitment to closing opportunity gaps.

“I look forward to having an additional way to support the good work of the eBay Foundation,” said Scott. “Working with the Foundation as a lawyer has already been incredibly rewarding. Officially joining the Foundation’s work will be another meaningful step on the same path!”

The eBay Foundation has supported entrepreneurs globally since 1998, granting over $120 million. In the third quarter of 2024 alone, it granted nearly $3 million. This sustained commitment demonstrates the Foundation’s focus on uplifting communities by removing barriers to entrepreneurship, providing capital for growth, and addressing systemic challenges.

Rebecca and Scott’s new roles exemplify the Foundation’s belief that leadership diversity drives better results. Their combined financial and legal expertise should deepen the board’s effectiveness, ultimately creating more opportunities for small business owners everywhere.

As part of its official update, eBay Foundation reiterated its dedication to powering inclusive economic growth through strategic philanthropy and meaningful employee volunteer initiatives. Adding Rebecca Spencer and Scott Andrews to the board is expected further to align the Foundation with the evolving needs of entrepreneurs, ensuring they receive essential resources to thrive. With these new leaders at the helm, the eBay Foundation is poised to continue its legacy of empowering communities worldwide, removing barriers, and driving social impact for years.
