eBay Introduces New Service to Help Users Sell Their Luxury Items with Expert Help
eBay has launched a new service that allows users to sell their luxury items with ease and confidence. The service, called eBay consignment, is a hassle-free way for users to get rid of their unwanted designer handbags and earn some cash in return.
The service is powered by Linda Lightman, the founder of Linda's Stuff and a leading seller of luxury goods on eBay. Linda has been selling on eBay for more than 20 years, and she has a wealth of experience and knowledge when it comes to authenticating and pricing luxury items.
To use the service, users simply need to fill out an online form and answer a few questions about their handbags. They will then receive a prepaid, insured shipping label to send their items to Linda. Linda and her team will take care of everything else, from photographing and listing the items on eBay, to shipping them to the buyers once they are sold. Users will receive a percentage of the sale price, which varies depending on the item's selling price.
The service is currently available for new and pre-owned handbags from top brands like Chanel, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Prada and Saint Laurent. The service will expand to other luxury categories like jewelry and watches in 2024.
One of the benefits of using eBay consignment is that eligible items listed for $500 or more will be authenticated by eBay's Authenticity Guarantee service. This means that the items will be inspected by independent experts before they are shipped to the buyers, ensuring that they are genuine and as described. Buyers will also receive an authenticity card and a branded tag with a unique QR code that verifies the item's authenticity.
eBay consignment is part of eBay's efforts to provide more trusted ways to buy and sell luxury and fashion on the marketplace. The company has recently introduced other offerings like Authenticity Guarantee for streetwear, Certified by Brand for authorized retailers, and Certilogo for AI-powered authentication.
"Our top priority is to respond to the ever-evolving needs of our customers, and continuously delight luxury shoppers and sellers," said Tirath Kamdar, Global GM of Luxury at eBay. "Launching a consignment service builds on the momentum of offerings like Authenticity Guarantee and Certified By Brand, giving our customers more trusted ways to buy and sell on the marketplace."
Linda Lightman also expressed her excitement about partnering with eBay for the consignment service. "Over the past 23 years, what was once a hobby has grown beyond my expectations. From its humble beginnings, Linda's Stuff has flourished into a multi-million-dollar business on eBay," she said. "I'm thrilled to be a partner in launching eBay's consignment offering, and to bring an even more extensive collection of luxury items to eBay's global community of shoppers."
eBay consignment is now live on ebay.com/ebay-consignment. Users can visit the website to learn more about the service and start selling their luxury items today.
