eBay has published an AI Activate Prompt Library to help small UK businesses make better use of artificial intelligence in their daily selling operations.
The prompt library is part of eBay AI Activate, a programme developed with OpenAI to give eligible UK business sellers fully funded access to AI productivity tools and training. The programme was launched to support up to 10,000 small businesses and offers access to ChatGPT Enterprise for up to 12 months, along with tailored training and custom GPT tools.
The new library is designed to solve a common problem for small sellers: knowing what to ask AI and how to ask it effectively. Instead of starting with a blank chat box, sellers can click ready-made prompts that open directly in their eBay AI Activate workspace, where they can personalise the prompt for their own eBay shop, products, data and business goals.

What the prompt library covers
The AI Activate Prompt Library focuses on practical ecommerce tasks rather than general AI use. According to the update, the available prompts cover areas such as listing optimisation, customer communication, product and market research, business data analysis, sales planning and marketing activity.
For example, sellers can use prompts to create stronger eBay titles with better keywords, convert buyers who are watching an item, find new suppliers, increase basket size with smart add-on products, build dashboards for key selling metrics, turn Seller Hub data into clear actions, plan the next 90 days of sales and marketing, and prepare a year-long marketing plan.
Why it matters for sellers
For small sellers, AI can be useful only when it saves time or improves decision-making. The prompt library appears to be aimed at making AI more actionable by connecting it directly with common selling tasks.
This can help sellers who may be interested in AI but are unsure how to use it for real business outcomes. A seller can take a ready-made prompt, add product details, shop data, buyer behaviour or sales history, and then use the AI response to improve listings, plan campaigns or identify growth opportunities.
eBay’s broader AI push
When eBay launched AI Activate in October 2025, the company said the programme was worth over £3 million and was aimed at helping small UK businesses free up time and boost growth. eBay also said the initiative would include access to ChatGPT Enterprise, custom GPT productivity tools and training based on seller research.
At the launch, Eve Williams, General Manager, eBay UK, said, “The issue is no longer whether businesses should adopt AI.” Nitzan Mekel-Bobrov, eBay’s Chief AI Officer, also said, “AI is reshaping ecommerce and eBay is all-in.
What sellers should do now
UK business sellers already enrolled in AI Activate can explore the prompt library inside their workspace and start testing prompts on real selling tasks. Sellers should treat the AI output as a working draft, not a final decision. Product claims, pricing suggestions, customer messages and campaign ideas should still be reviewed before being used.
The update shows that eBay is trying to move AI adoption from a technology discussion to a day-to-day seller workflow. For sellers who struggle with titles, planning, research or performance analysis, the new prompt library could become a useful starting point.
