eBay Sellers to Face USPS Rate Changes in July

eBay sellers who ship their items using the United States Postal Service (USPS) will have to adjust to new rates starting from July 9th. The online marketplace has notified its sellers of the upcoming changes and offered some discounts for those who use eBay labels.

“As always, we continue to work closely with our carrier partners to provide you with the best shipping rates on eBay Labels,” eBay said. It added, “While USPS has announced average increases, the actual change in the rate depends on the weight and zone.”

The rate changes will vary depending on the weight and zone of the package, as well as the service used. Some services, such as Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express and First-Class Package, will not change in rates. Others, such as Media Mail, will have an average increase of 7.5%. eBay also introduced a new service called USPS Ground Advantage, which will combine three existing USPS services (First-Class Package, Parcel Select Ground and Retail Ground) into one.

eBay also explained how the new rates would impact rates for the eBay standard envelope service:

1 oz. $0.60 to $0.63
2 oz. $0.84 to $0.87
3 oz. $1.08, rising to $1.11

eBay said it continues to work closely with its carrier partners to provide the best shipping rates on eBay Labels. It also advised its sellers to review the new rates and update their listings accordingly. eBay said that it is committed to helping its sellers succeed in the competitive e-commerce landscape.
