India Post, Canada Post join hands for e-commerce exports
In a bid to boost e-commerce trade between India and Canada, India Post and Canada Post have launched a new service called International Tracked Packet Service (ITPS) from July 1, 2023, an official release states. The service will enable the transmission and delivery of packets upto 2 kg at affordable rates and with tracking features.
The ITPS is designed to meet the cross-border shipping requirements of e-commerce exporters, including MSMEs, small businesses, merchants, etc. who can promote exports of their products using local post offices. The service will also offer pick-up and volume-based discount to contractual customers.
“India Post recently entered into an agreement with Canada Post to introduce International Tracked Packet Service (ITPS) between the two countries to facilitate e-commerce exports. The service will be operational with effect from July 01, 2023,” the release said.
India Post already provides ITPS service with 38 partner countries and Canada is the new addition - 39th. The service was expanded from 16 countries to 38 countries by adding 22 new partners, including Britain, France, UAE, Egypt, Oman, etc. from June 01, 2023.
The ITPS rates are kept very economical in comparison to International EMS (Speed Post) and other market products. The postage for first 50 gms would be Rs 400 and Rs 35 for every additional 50 gms.
The launch of the ITPS between India and Canada marks a significant step forward in enhancing trade relations and fostering a conducive environment for e-commerce growth between the two nations. It is also expected to enhance the bilateral trade relations between the two countries and provide a competitive edge to the e-commerce exporters of both countries.
