Indian small businesses and D2C brands shine at Prime Day 2023

Prime Day 2023, a global shopping event for Amazon Prime members, witnessed a surge in demand for 'Made in India' products from customers across the world. Indian exporters on Amazon Global Selling recorded nearly 70% year-on-year growth, outperforming the average growth rates of previous Prime Day events.

In an official blog, Amazon said that several Indian brands, such as Linenwalas, Minimalist and Einstein Box, saw up to 5x growth during these Prime Day global events. Beauty, apparel, home, furniture and kitchen were some of the categories that registered the highest growth.

It added that Prime Day 2023 was also the biggest ever Prime Day in India, with 14% more Prime members shopping hundreds of thousands of deals this year as compared to Prime Day 2022. Indian bedsheets, scrub apparel sets and windshield sunglasses were some of the most popular 'Made in India' products sold by Indian exporters.

Bhupen Wakankar, Director Global Trade, Amazon India, said that Prime Day has always been a key growth period for Indian exporters on Amazon Global Selling and that they were delighted to see them succeed in the global markets.

He added, ‘‘With more than 200 million Amazon Prime members globally, Prime Day has always been a key growth period for Indian exporters on Amazon Global Selling. This year, we saw thousands of exporters from across the country take lakhs of ‘made in India’ products to customers worldwide. With more and more people relying on ecommerce globally, we believe Amazon Global Selling will help accelerate the exports business for sellers of all sizes.''

Prime Day 2023 also featured over 30,000 new product launches from over 400 top Indian and global brands and 2,000 new products from 120+ small businesses. Prime members also enjoyed added benefits like early access to great deals, extra savings, blockbuster entertainment and free and fast deliveries.
