Amazon Introduces New Guidelines for Coupon Pricing

In a recent update from Amazon Seller-Central, starting March 12, 2024, new pricing requirements for coupons have been introduced. This move aims to enhance the coupon experience, fostering greater customer trust and offering sellers an improved platform for their promotions.

Here's what you need to know about the upcoming changes:

Discount Parameters: Sellers must offer a discount percentage that falls within the stipulated range of 5% (minimum) to 50% (maximum) off.
Sales History Requirement: Only products with a sales history will be eligible for coupon promotions, ensuring that the promotional price is lower than the product's "was price" or its recent lowest price.

Failure to meet these requirements will render a product ineligible for coupon promotions until compliance is achieved. Sellers encountering coupon error messages can take several steps to rectify issues:

Price History Issue: To qualify, create a sales history for your product to establish a "was price." For details on how the "was price" is calculated, sellers are directed to Amazon's policy on reference prices.
Increase Discount: To make your product eligible, ensure your promotion price is below the "was price" or the recent lowest selling price.
Minimum/Maximum Discount Issue: Adjust your sale price discount to fall within the 5% to 50% required range.

This initiative is part of Amazon's ongoing efforts to improve the selling and buying experience on its platform. For more detailed information on coupon pricing requirements and how to resolve error messages, sellers are encouraged to visit the "Understanding coupon errors" section in Seller Central.

Amazon's commitment to building a trustworthy and efficient marketplace continues to manifest through such updates, emphasizing the importance of clarity and compliance in promotional activities.
