ShipTrack Carriers: Amazon's New Solution for FBA Shipment Tracking from China
Amazon has announced a new feature for its Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) program that allows sellers to track their shipments from China to the US with more accuracy and reliability. Starting August 21, 2023, sellers who use a non-partnered carrier to send their FBA shipments from China to the US can choose one of the ShipTrack carriers, which automatically provide end-to-end tracking information in Seller Central.
In an announcement made on its ‘Seller Central’ platform, Amazon said that ShipTrack carriers are vetted by Amazon and help it predict when sellers' shipments will arrive at Amazon fulfillment centers and generate more accurate estimated delivery dates for customers. This will improve customer satisfaction and reduce the risk of negative feedback and claims.
Additionally, better shipment tracking will help sellers to make informed replenishment decisions and reduce their overstock cost and understock loss. Sellers will be able to see the status of their shipments in real time and plan their inventory accordingly.
ShipTrack carriers are available for FBA shipments from China to the US effective August 21, 2023, and will also be available for FBA shipments from China to Japan and the EU by the end of the year. Sellers can choose from a list of ShipTrack carriers when creating their shipping plans in Seller Central.
The new feature is part of Amazon's efforts to streamline its global logistics network and provide more options and benefits for sellers who source their products from China. Amazon says that it is committed to helping sellers grow their businesses and reach more customers around the world.
When sellers use a ShipTrack carrier, information on their shipment’s progress is automatically provided to Amazon and available on the Shipment Summary page. To use a ShipTrack carrier, sellers need to go to the shipment creation workflow on Send to Amazon, and in the "Select carrier" drop-down menu, select "Or use your own carrier". Then they can see a list of ShipTrack carriers for their China-to-US shipment.
