Walmart Creator: A New Platform for Content Creators
Walmart has launched a new platform designed for content creators. The platform, called Walmart Creator, is a one-stop portal that makes it easy for creators to monetize shoppable products from the retailer. Walmart Creator is currently in the beta stage and creators can apply for beta access at WalmartCreator.com. The retailer plans to expand the platform in the current year.
“We know our customers are inspired by the content and stories they see from their favorite influencers in their social feeds every day. This next step in our strategy will help fuel inspiration for our customers by connecting their favorite creators directly with our brand and the brands they love at Walmart,” said William White, CMO, Walmart U.S.
Walmart Creator allows creators to access thousands of products and earn commissions on sales they refer to with no cap. Creators can share product links to any social platform or group of their choice, receive product recommendations based on their interests and affinities. Creators can collect valuable performance data using Walmart Creator’s analytics dashboard to understand how customers engaged with the products they featured in their posts.
Walmart Creator also enables creators to apply to be a part of upcoming brand campaigns and use curated product collections to inspire their content stories.
Walmart Creator is part of Walmart’s strategy to connect with customers through social commerce and shorten the distance between inspiration and purchase. Walmart is an early pioneer in social commerce and has experimented with shoppable live streams and other channels.
Walmart Creator differs from Amazon’s Inspire program, a new feature within the Amazon shopping app that allows customers to discover and shop for products within a personalized feed. Both platforms offer benefits to creators and customers alike. Creators can earn revenue and exposure by featuring products they love, while customers can find products they like based on their interests and preferences. Both platforms also leverage the power of social media and video content to drive engagement and sales.
