Walmart Empowers Small Businesses and U.S. Manufacturing at 2025 Open Call
Over 100 entrepreneurs earn nationwide shelf space as Walmart reaffirms its $350 billion commitment to American-made goods
Walmart has reaffirmed its commitment to U.S. manufacturing and small business growth through its 12th annual Open Call event held in Bentonville, Arkansas. The event brought together over 500 entrepreneurs from across the United States to pitch their products made, grown, or assembled domestically. The announcement was made by Walmart in an official blog post highlighting how the program continues to support American innovation and job creation.

Celebrating U.S. entrepreneurship
This year’s Open Call saw participants from 47 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. More than 100 small business owners received the coveted Golden Tickets, which give their products a chance to be sold on Walmart and Sam’s Club shelves and online platforms. Companies such as Grandma Betty’s Grits from Georgia, Vaquero Snacks from California, and Scentsational Soaps & Candles from Florida were among the winners.

Walmart U.S. President and CEO John Furner said the Open Call represents Walmart’s best values — supporting American jobs, uplifting small businesses, and providing customers with new, innovative products. Over the past 12 years, the initiative has helped hundreds of entrepreneurs expand their businesses nationally while strengthening U.S. manufacturing.
Decades of supporting U.S. sourcing
Walmart’s focus on American-made products dates back to founder Sam Walton’s Buy American initiative, launched 40 years ago. In 2021, Walmart renewed this legacy with a $350 billion, 10-year commitment to buy products made, grown, or assembled in the U.S. The initiative aims to support up to 750,000 American jobs through its supply chain. By the end of last year, Walmart had already increased its U.S. spend by $176 billion toward this goal, with about two-thirds of its product spend coming from domestically sourced goods.
Encouraging innovation and industry advancement
Beyond product pitches, Open Call 2025 showcased technologies aimed at transforming U.S. manufacturing. Thirteen companies presented innovations related to alternative materials, yield optimization, and production efficiency. Participants such as Plantible, Loom 3D, and Blum Agtec stood out for their forward-looking contributions to sustainable and cost-effective manufacturing.
Training and mentorship for business success
The event also included extensive training sessions for entrepreneurs, offering mentorship on topics such as scaling production, packaging design, and financial readiness. Walmart and Sam’s Club experts, along with past Open Call alumni, guided participants on strategies to compete successfully at a national level.
Through its Open Call 2025, Walmart continues to champion American-made products and local entrepreneurship. By providing opportunities for small businesses to grow and innovate, Walmart not only strengthens its supplier base but also contributes to sustainable job creation across the country. The initiative reaffirms Walmart’s long-term commitment to empowering communities, fostering innovation, and shaping a stronger U.S. manufacturing future.
