Walmart Raises the Bar for Pro Sellers with New Badge Criteria
Walmart is raising the bar for its Marketplace sellers by introducing new and stricter criteria for its 'Pro Seller Badge' which is a prestigious recognition given to sellers who consistently deliver high-quality products and services to Walmart customers. The badge helps sellers gain more visibility and trust in the Walmart Marketplace, which has over 100 million monthly visitors.
However, starting from September 20, 2023, sellers will have to meet more challenging requirements to earn and keep the badge. Some of the new criteria include:
According to Walmart, these new criteria are designed to help sellers provide better shopping experiences for customers and increase their sales and conversions. Walmart also claims that these criteria are aligned with the industry standards and customer expectations.
Walmart's move to update its Pro Seller Badge criteria is seen as part of its strategy to boost its ecommerce business and compete with Amazon, the dominant online retailer in the US. Walmart has been investing heavily in its online platform, adding more products, categories, features, and services.
With the new Pro Seller Badge criteria, Walmart hopes to attract more customers and sellers to its Marketplace and offer them a superior shopping experience. However, it remains to be seen how the sellers will react to the changes and whether they will be able to meet the expectations of Walmart and its customers.
The new Pro Seller Badge criteria are a sign of Walmart's ambition to become a leading ecommerce player and a challenge for its Marketplace sellers to improve their performance and quality. While the badge may offer some benefits for sellers and customers, it may also pose some risks and difficulties for them. How the sellers and customers will adapt to the changes and how Walmart will support them are some of the questions that remain unanswered. The Pro Seller Badge is a symbol of excellence, but also a source of pressure, for the Walmart Marketplace community.
However, starting from September 20, 2023, sellers will have to meet more challenging requirements to earn and keep the badge. Some of the new criteria include:
- Achieving a delivery rate of at least 95% (up from 90%), which means that at least 95% of orders are delivered on or before the estimated delivery date.
- Maintaining a cancellation rate of less than 1.5% (reduced from 2%), which means that less than 1.5% of orders are cancelled by the seller or Walmart.
- Responding to customer messages within 24 hours on weekdays and 48 hours on weekends, with a response rate of at least 95%.
- Offering a handling time of one business day or less on the entire catalog.
- Saturday and/or Sunday delivery enabled.
- More than 250 orders in the last 90 days (up from 100 orders)
- Ensuring that at least 95% of listings have high-quality content, such as clear and accurate titles, descriptions, images, and attributes.
- No violation of Performance Standards or Trust and Safety.
