Amazon has announced an important update to how Fulfillment by Amazon removal and disposal fees are charged. The change, shared through Seller Central, affects the timing of fee deductions rather than the fee amounts themselves. From mid-February, sellers will see charges applied as each unit is processed, offering clearer and more timely insight into inventory removals and disposals.

Update announced on Seller Central
The announcement was made on Seller Central, where Amazon regularly shares operational and policy updates for sellers. According to the update, the new fee charging method will apply to all new FBA removal and disposal orders created on or after February 15, 2026.

What is changing from February 15
Under the new system, FBA removal and disposal fees will be charged on a per-unit basis at the time each unit is removed or disposed of. Earlier, sellers were charged the total fee only after the entire removal or disposal order was completed. This often caused delays in fee visibility, especially for large or staggered orders.

What remains unchanged
Amazon has clarified that this is only a timeline change. The fee rates for FBA removal and disposal remain exactly the same. There is no increase or reduction in costs. Sellers are not required to take any action, as the update will be applied automatically.

Benefits for Sellers
This update offers several operational advantages for Amazon sellers:
Improved Visibility: You can now track the progress of removal orders in real time by watching charges appear. This confirms that work is actively being done on your order.
Easier Reconciliation: It becomes simpler to match specific fees to specific units, rather than trying to audit a bulk charge against a large order that may have been split across multiple shipments.
Cash Flow Management: Expenses for large removal orders will be spread out slightly as units are processed, rather than appearing as one large debit.

How to Review Your Charges
i) To monitor these fees as they occur, you can access your transaction details within Seller Central:
ii) Navigate to the Payments dashboard.
iii) Select Transaction view.
iv) Look for shipment-level charges to see when specific units have been removed or disposed of.

Additional context for inventory planning
For sellers preparing for long-term storage limits, stranded inventory clean-ups, or seasonal stock transitions, this update provides more predictable fee tracking. It can also help sellers fine-tune their inventory removal strategies, especially when managing aging stock or planning liquidation and disposal decisions.

The updated FBA removal and disposal fee charging method reflects Amazon’s effort to provide sellers with better visibility into inventory-related costs. While the overall fees remain unchanged, the shift to per-unit, real-time charging can help sellers monitor expenses more accurately and manage their Seller Central finances with greater clarity.
