In an exciting update for sellers, Amazon announced through a recent Seller Central post significant improvements to its deals and coupons system. These updates, effective from June 2, 2025, promise to simplify and make more affordable the process of running promotions, potentially driving higher sales and greater product visibility.

Flexible Deal Durations for Sellers
One of the most beneficial changes introduced by Amazon involves greater flexibility in deal durations. Starting June 2, sellers can:
- Choose the duration of their Best Deals from 1 to 14 days.
- Schedule deals on any day of the week, aligning closely with consumer purchasing patterns.
However, it's important to note that during Peak Events such as Prime Day, Prime Big Deal Days, and Black Friday/Cyber Monday, deal dates and durations will remain fixed to maintain consistency during these high-traffic periods.

Performance-Based Promotions and Deals Fees
Amazon is significantly shifting its fee structure towards a more performance-oriented model. This change reduces the barrier to entry by cutting down upfront costs and tying fees directly to deal performance:
- Upfront fees for Best Deals and Lightning Deals drop significantly from $300/$150 per deal to just $70 per day.
- A new variable fee structure will apply, charging 1.0% of sales generated during the deal period, with a maximum cap of $2,000 per deal.
- This adjustment ensures sellers benefit from increased sales without facing overwhelming costs.
This performance-based fee approach makes it less risky for sellers to experiment with different promotion strategies, encouraging innovation and potentially boosting profitability.

Coupon Fees Adjusted for Greater Savings
Additionally, Amazon is modifying coupon fees to lower costs for most sellers, improving affordability for product promotion:
- Previous coupon fees of $0.60 per unit sold are replaced with a simpler fee of $5 per coupon plus 2.5% of sales generated by the coupon.
- This adjustment generally reduces the fee per unit sold, particularly benefiting sellers who move higher volumes of products.
This means sellers now have the opportunity to test coupons more effectively, tailoring strategies to their product offerings and consumer preferences.

Highlights of Amazon’s Update:
- Flexible durations for Best Deals (1-14 days).
- Reduced upfront fees for Best and Lightning Deals ($70 per day).
- Performance-based variable fee of 1.0% with a $2,000 cap per deal.
- Coupon fees shift to $5 per coupon plus 2.5% of coupon sales.
- Reduced per-unit coupon costs for most sellers.
- Separate fee structures during Peak and non-Peak Events to optimize results.

These changes give Amazon sellers powerful new tools to reach wider audiences, experiment safely with promotions, and ultimately boost their overall profitability. By lowering upfront costs and aligning fees with actual performance, Amazon encourages sellers to innovate in their promotional efforts. The updates shared via Seller Central reflect Amazon’s continued commitment to helping sellers thrive by simplifying promotional strategies and improving affordability. Sellers who leverage these new tools strategically can significantly enhance their visibility, customer engagement, and sales performance in the competitive Amazon marketplace.
