Amazon Employs Over 25,000 in Spain, Expands Footprint Across Country

Amazon has created more new jobs in Spain over the past five years than any other company, according to a recent blog post from the retail and technology giant. The company now employs over 25,000 people in Spain, becoming one of the largest private employers in the country.
Diverse Workforce Spans 100+ Nationalities
The 25,000+ workforce includes over 20,000 jobs created since just 2018, reflecting Amazon's rapid growth and investment in Spain. Employees represent a diverse range of over 100 nationalities. Notably, over 40% of workers are women, a high percentage for sectors like engineering, technology, and logistics, where women have historically been underrepresented. Amazon also supports the LGBTIQA+ community.
Expanding Footprint with New Fulfillment and Delivery Centers
Amazon currently operates 40 sites across Spain and continues to expand its presence. In 2023, new fulfillment centers were launched in Zaragoza and Girona, with another announced in Siero, along with delivery stations in Granada and Coruña. Together, these are expected to create over 1,500 jobs in the next three years alone.
Amazon touts its "modern, safe work environment with competitive salaries exceeding industry standards." Employee benefits, valued at over €3,500 per year, include private health insurance, pension plans, subsidized meals, discounts, and extended parental leave.
€15.7 Billion AWS Investment to Create 17,500 More Jobs
Looking ahead, Amazon Web Services (AWS) plans to invest a staggering €15.7 billion in Spain over the next decade to expand its AWS Europe Region in Aragón. The investment is projected to support an additional 17,500 full-time jobs per year across direct, indirect, and induced employment.
"We committed to reaching 25,000 permanent employees by 2025 during the celebration of our tenth anniversary in Spain in 2021. We reached the target even quicker, by the end of 2023," Amazon wrote in the blog post, underscoring its rapid job creation.
Earlier, we reported that the company has assured to Expand its Operations in the country, promising 25,000 job creation in citing this official blog.
Through this massive job creation and multibillion-euro investment, Amazon aims to contribute significantly to economic growth at the local, regional, and national levels in Spain. The expansions create new opportunities for Amazon's employees and the communities where it operates.
As Amazon's presence in Spain continues to expand at a rapid clip, it has clearly emerged as a major economic engine and top job creator for the country. Its investments look poised to support tens of thousands of additional jobs in the decade ahead.
