Amazon Opens New AWD Distribution Centers in California and Arizona
New facilities boost storage capacity and offer limited-time fee reduction for pallet shipments
Amazon has recently announced the opening of two new state-of-the-art Amazon Warehousing and Distribution (AWD) centers in California and Arizona. This expansion is designed to accommodate single-SKU pallets and floor-loaded palletizable shipments, adding 12 million cubic square feet of storage to Amazon’s ever-growing network. This move not only increases the storage capacity but also presents an opportunity for sellers to streamline their inventory management and reduce costs.

Details of the Promotion
To celebrate the launch, Amazon is offering a limited-time promotion for sellers. Shipments that meet the AWD palletizable region shipping requirements and are received at either of these new centers by January 14, 2026, will benefit from an inbound processing fee of just $1 per box, compared to the base rate of $1.35 per box. This promotion allows sellers to save on processing costs while sending inventory to these new facilities.

How to Ship Inventory to the New Centers
Sellers can follow these simple steps to send their inventory to the new distribution centers:
1. Go to the Send to Amazon Warehousing and Distribution section in Seller Central.
2. Under Step 1: Choose Inventory to Send, click on Change ship to, and select the new region, West Coast Palletizable (US).
3. Submit the selection.
4. Complete the workflow and finalize the booking.
5. Prepare labels and send the inventory to the center.
This new addition to the AWD network is a great opportunity for sellers to expand their reach, especially those targeting the West Coast market.
It’s important to note that shipments which do not meet the palletizable region’s requirements or don’t match the order details will incur an increased processing fee of $2.50 per box, instead of the standard $1.35 per box. Additionally, shipments containing mixed products on one pallet or failing to meet the pallet requirements may be rejected.
Sellers should carefully review their shipments to ensure they comply with the new standards to avoid higher fees or rejections.
With the addition of these new AWD centers, Amazon continues to enhance its fulfillment network, providing sellers with expanded storage space and the opportunity for cost savings. By adhering to the new requirements and taking advantage of the promotional fee structure, sellers can benefit from these new facilities and improve their overall logistics efficiency. This update was made available on Amazon's Seller Central platform, providing detailed steps and guidelines for a smooth transition to the new distribution centers.
