Amazon India Cuts Referral Fees to Zero on Products Below ₹300
Massive fee reduction benefits sellers across 135+ product categories; shipping and weight handling costs are also lowered
In an effort to empower small and medium businesses, Amazon India has unveiled its largest-ever cut in seller fees. According to an official blog post by Amazon India, effective April 7, 2025, referral fees for products priced under ₹300 across more than 135 product categories will be completely waived off. The decision is poised to significantly reduce selling costs and allow sellers to offer more competitive pricing.
Referral fees are essentially commissions sellers pay Amazon for each sale. With this new initiative, products such as apparel, shoes, jewelry, groceries, home décor, beauty, kitchen items, automotive products, toys, and pet supplies will benefit from zero referral fees.

Reduced Shipping Costs and Flat Rates Announced:
Alongside zero referral fees, Amazon India has streamlined its shipping charges to further assist sellers. For sellers using external fulfillment options like Amazon Easy Ship and Seller Flex, a simplified flat national shipping rate has been introduced. Previously set at ₹77, the new rate is now lowered to ₹65.
Amazon Easy Ship allows convenient logistics by picking up products directly from sellers and delivering them to customers, whereas Seller Flex lets Amazon manage portions of sellers' warehouses as Amazon fulfillment centers.

Savings on Lightweight and Multi-Unit Shipments
Further sweetening the deal, Amazon India has also lowered weight handling fees for lightweight products weighing under 1 kg by up to ₹17 per product. Additionally, sellers shipping multiple units in a single order stand to save substantially—up to 90%—on fees for second and subsequent units.

Promoting Growth and Competitiveness
These combined reductions in fees will significantly boost seller profitability, empowering sellers to diversify product offerings and launch attractive customer promotions. For instance, sellers can leverage promotions like "Buy 2, Get 10% Off" via Amazon’s promotional tools, effectively increasing their sales potential.
Speaking about the initiative, Amit Nanda, director of selling partner services at Amazon India, said, "At Amazon India, we are committed to enabling the growth of all sellers because we strongly believe that our success lies in their success. By eliminating referral fees on crores of products and reducing shipping costs, we're making it more lucrative for sellers to sell on Amazon.in.”
This marks Amazon India's second substantial reduction in seller fees within an eight-month period. Previously, in September 2024, the marketplace had decreased selling fees by 3% to 12% across 59 categories.
According to Amazon's official statement, "This initiative supports seller growth on Amazon by enabling them to offer a wider selection and present more competitive offers to customers, particularly on everyday low-value items. As we gain efficiencies in our operations, we ensure those benefits reach our sellers and customers."
With these measures, Amazon India continues to underscore its dedication to enhancing seller experiences and thus strengthening the overall e-commerce ecosystem in India.
