Amazon India has announced on Seller Central that it will open a state‑of‑the‑art fulfilment centre, code‑named IDX2, in Madhya Pradesh on 4 May 2025. The new site will take over from the existing SIDA facility and is expected to strengthen Amazon’s supply‑chain reach across central India while giving marketplace sellers more storage capacity and quicker delivery options for shoppers.

IDX2 is part of Amazon’s wider push to cut delivery times and expand same‑day and next‑day coverage in emerging e‑commerce zones. Positioned close to major highways and rail corridors, the hub will shorten the “last mile” to cities such as Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, and neighbouring states, translating into speedier deliveries for customers and lower shipping costs for sellers.

Key compliance dates at a glance
• 4 May 2025 – IDX2 goes live and starts receiving inbound shipments
• 20 June 2025 – Deadline for sellers to upload updated GST certificates naming IDX2 as an additional place of business
• 30 June 2025 – Last day Amazon accepts shipments at SIDA
• 30 June 2025 – Final day customer orders will ship out of SIDA

What sellers need to do now
Update GST registration: Sellers must amend their GST certificates to include IDX2 and upload the revised documents to Seller Central by 20 June.
Verify licences: Ensure any other applicable state licences list the new address.
Plan inventory: After documents are approved, Amazon will relocate sellable stock from SIDA to IDX2 free of charge, minimising downtime.
Avoid penalties: Failure to meet the GST deadline will trigger automatic removal orders, and sellers will bear any tax‑authority claims arising from non‑compliance.

Operational gains for sellers
Expanded storage: IDX2 will add millions of cubic feet of capacity, easing space constraints during seasonal peaks.
Improved seller metrics: Faster dispatch from a centrally located hub can lift on‑time delivery rates and seller ratings.
Cost efficiencies: Amazon’s complimentary inventory transfer removes relocation expenses, and reduced shipping zones can lower fulfilment fees in the long run.

Benefits for Amazon shoppers
Quicker deliveries: Customers in Madhya Pradesh and neighbouring regions should see delivery windows shrink by up to one day.
Broader selection: Increased storage means more product variety stays in‑stock locally.
Enhanced reliability: New automation and climate‑controlled zones protect goods, especially temperature‑sensitive items.

Boost for the local community
Job creation: Amazon projects hundreds of direct roles in operations, maintenance, and quality control, plus thousands of indirect opportunities in transport and ancillary services.
Skill development: Employees will receive training in robotics, inventory analytics, and safety protocols, raising the region’s technical skill base.
Infrastructure upgrade: Improved road connectivity and auxiliary warehousing often follow large fulfilment projects, benefitting other industries.

The launch of IDX2 signals Amazon’s commitment to deepening its logistics footprint in central India while empowering sellers with better infrastructure and buyers with faster, more reliable deliveries. By acting promptly on GST updates and licence verifications, sellers can enjoy a seamless, cost‑free transition and be ready to capitalise on the enhanced reach and efficiency the new Madhya Pradesh fulfilment centre promises.
