A decade of Startup India and industry partnership
Over the last ten years, Startup India has played a central role in shaping India’s startup ecosystem. The initiative has driven innovation, job creation and global ambition among founders across sectors. According to Amazon’s blog, collaboration between government and industry has been critical in creating an environment where startups can launch, grow and compete globally.

Reflecting this partnership, Shri Sanjiv, Joint Secretary at the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, said that Startup India has transformed entrepreneurship in the country. He noted that partnerships with industry players like Amazon have helped startups scale their ideas and build solutions for global markets, reinforcing India’s position as a hub for innovation.

Amazon’s startup-focused programmes
Amazon said its support for startups spans every stage of growth. Through cloud infrastructure on AWS, marketplace access and seller enablement tools, startups can move faster without heavy upfront investment. The company highlighted Amazon Launchpad as a key programme that helps emerging brands bring new products to market.

Launchpad supports startups with assisted onboarding, optimised listings, brand guidance, improved discoverability, marketing support and access to market intelligence. For shoppers, this means easier access to new, innovative products from young Indian brands that are still early in their journey.

Empowering artisans and women entrepreneurs
The blog also highlighted Amazon Karigar, launched in 2017, which supports artisans selling handmade products on Amazon.in. According to Amazon, the programme has benefited more than 18 lakh artisans across 24 states and union territories, connecting traditional crafts to customers nationwide.

Another major initiative is Amazon Saheli, which focuses on women entrepreneurs including homemakers, artisans and small business owners. Through partnerships with government bodies and non-profits, the programme has reached around 18 lakh women, helping them access online customers and build sustainable businesses.

Deepening ties with Startup India and DPIIT
Amazon’s collaboration with Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade under the Startup India framework aims to simplify onboarding and reduce barriers for recognised startups. The company said it has earmarked up to ₹1,000 crore to invest in DPIIT-registered startups, supporting long-term manufacturing and entrepreneurship.

The blog also mentioned support for BHASKAR, the Bharat Startup Knowledge Access Registry, which helps founders connect with investors, mentors and service providers through a national platform.

From small ideas to national brands
Amazon shared examples of startups that have grown through its marketplace. Brands like PHOOL, The Yard House and Iyurved began with niche ideas and limited resources but have expanded into recognised names serving customers across India. These stories, Amazon said, show how digital infrastructure, logistics and data-driven tools can help small businesses scale sustainably.

For customers, the message is clear. By shopping from startups and small businesses on Amazon, buyers are not only discovering unique products but also supporting entrepreneurship, job creation and local innovation. Amazon has invited customers to explore its SMB Storefront to mark National Startup Day and experience products from emerging Indian brands.

As India enters the next phase of its startup journey, Amazon’s blog underlines a shared vision. When technology, policy and consumer support come together, small ideas can turn into national and global success stories.
