Amazon to Launch Dedicated Irish Online Store in 2025

Amazon.ie to Offer Localized Shopping Experience with Faster Delivery and Easy Returns

By Staff Writer

Days after expanding its footprint in South Africa by launching Amazon.co.za, the tech-giant Amazon has announced plans to launch a new online store specifically for customers in Ireland. The Amazon.ie store is set to open its virtual doors in 2025. The company aims to enhance the shopping experience for Irish consumers by offering a wide selection of products, competitive prices, and faster delivery options.

John Boumphrey, Ireland & UK Country Manager at Amazon, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming launch, stating, "The launch of Amazon.ie will be great news for Irish customers and we're looking forward to opening its virtual doors in 2025. This underscores our continued commitment to Ireland, and will bring a wide selection of great value products with fast delivery to Irish customers, as well as provide great opportunities for small and medium-sized Irish businesses to reach a bigger audience at home and abroad."

In an official announcement, Amazon said that the new store will feature over 100 million products, with an increased focus on offerings from Irish businesses. Customers can expect clearer, localized pricing without additional customs charges. The launch follows the opening of Amazon's first fulfillment center in Dublin in 2022, which has already created 500 new jobs and improved delivery speeds across the country.

Irish small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are poised to benefit from the dedicated store, with over 1,000 already selling on Amazon and generating more than €150 million in export sales in 2022 alone. The company has invested over €20 billion from 2020 to 2022 to support European SMEs in reaching new customers both within the European Single Market and in international export markets.

Darragh Kelly, Ireland General Manager for Customer Fulfillment at Amazon, expressed the excitement of Amazon's Irish teams, saying, "We already serve customers across Ireland, support more than 1,000 local businesses who sell on Amazon, and are a significant employer in Ireland. Our teams across the country are so excited about this next chapter in our story here, and are looking forward to delivering for our customers through our new Irish store in 2025."

The launch of Amazon.ie marks another milestone in the company's rich history in Ireland, where it currently employs around 6,500 people across various roles in Cork, Dublin, and Drogheda. Amazon's investments in the country since 2020 have exceeded €17 billion, with Amazon Web Services' cloud infrastructure investments expanding Ireland's economic output by nearly €11.4 billion over the past decade.

As anticipation builds for the 2025 launch, Amazon is expected to release more details about the new store, customer offers, and how Irish brands and SMEs can register in the coming months.
