Amazon UK Announces Key Changes to Multi-Channel Fulfilment Fees
New rates, simplified size categories effective May 15, 2025
In a significant update aimed at enhancing the seller experience, Amazon UK announced key changes to its Multi-Channel Fulfilment (MCF) fees, effective from May 15, 2025. The detailed announcement was made via Amazon UK’s Seller Central, providing sellers with clear guidelines on how the revised fee structure will impact their operations.

Introduction of Light Envelope Category
A standout feature of the update is the introduction of a new "Light Envelope" category, catering specifically to lightweight items starting at just 20 grams. This new category presents sellers with a more cost-effective option for shipping smaller items.
Furthermore, envelope shipment rates will see a reduction averaging 2.7%. Sellers dispatching multi-unit orders within the Extra Large Envelope category weighing up to 960 grams can expect even greater savings, with fee reductions reaching up to 12%. This adjustment is designed to support sellers who frequently manage larger envelope-based shipments.

Maintaining and Reducing Parcel Rates
Amazon UK will maintain existing rates for small parcel and standard parcel shipments. Importantly, there will be a notable fee reduction for parcels within the 3.9 kg size band in the small parcels category. Sellers who ship products within this weight class will directly benefit from reduced fulfillment costs, potentially increasing profit margins and providing room for competitive pricing.
Oversize Pricing Structure Simplification
To simplify seller operations further, Amazon UK has consolidated its oversize pricing structure, significantly reducing complexity. The current oversize pricing model, consisting of 27 distinct size bands, will be streamlined to just 12 bands.
The new simplified pricing model comprises a base rate with an incremental per-kilogram charge. However, sellers should note that this consolidation accompanies an average fee increase of approximately 2.8% for oversize items. Amazon has positioned this adjustment as a necessary step to reflect operational costs more accurately while maintaining efficient service delivery.
Maximizing Seller Benefits
The changes announced by Amazon UK provide multiple opportunities for sellers to optimize their inventory and shipping strategies. Lightweight and envelope-based product sellers stand to benefit significantly from the new lower rates, encouraging an expansion of offerings within these profitable categories. Additionally, sellers should strategically plan around the reduced fees for small parcels up to 3.9 kg, potentially adjusting product pricing and inventory levels to maximize profitability.
Oversize product sellers will need to carefully analyze the new simplified pricing structure. While there is an overall fee increase, the simplified bands could streamline logistical planning and cost management, ultimately offsetting some of the impact through improved operational efficiency.
Amazon UK's latest update, communicated via Seller Central, demonstrates the company's ongoing commitment to simplifying fulfillment processes and providing cost-saving opportunities for its sellers. The introduction of the Light Envelope category, reduction in envelope and specific small parcel rates, and the streamlined oversize pricing structure are designed to help sellers enhance efficiency, manage costs effectively, and improve overall profitability.
Sellers are advised to thoroughly review the detailed fee schedules available on Amazon UK's Seller Central platform to fully understand and take advantage of these upcoming changes.
