Amazon Updates FBA Inventory Display, Temporary Report Discrepancies Expected
Inventory Overview Column Changes Aim to Improve Clarity for Sellers
Amazon has announced important updates to the Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) Inventory page on its Seller Central platform. This update specifically targets how sellers' inventory is displayed, aiming to more accurately reflect the units customers can purchase.

What's Changing on the FBA Inventory Page?
The key update involves replacing the "Available" category with a new category called "On-hand." The On-hand category consolidates the previous Available units with Fulfillment Center (FC) transfer units. Amazon clarified that both types of units are now grouped because customers can purchase them.

Impact on the Reserved Category
As a direct result, FC transfer units will no longer appear under the "Reserved" category. Moving forward, Reserved will exclusively include FC processing and Customer order units. Sellers should note that this change affects all FBA sellers on Amazon's US platform.
Temporary Discrepancies in Reports Expected
While the updates to the Inventory overview column are immediate, Amazon highlighted that there will be temporary inconsistencies between the Inventory Overview column and inventory reports. Specifically, inventory reports will continue to classify FC transfer units as Reserved. Amazon expects to align reports with these updates by mid-2026 fully.
Amazon has acknowledged that this temporary mismatch might lead to confusion for sellers and expressed gratitude for sellers' patience during this transition period. No immediate action is required from sellers at this stage.
Additional Recommendations for Amazon Sellers
Sellers are encouraged to regularly check their Inventory performance page on Seller Central for real-time updates. Ensuring clarity on how inventory units are classified and tracked will help sellers manage their stock efficiently and avoid potential disruptions in fulfilling customer orders.
This recent update on Amazon Seller Central is part of Amazon's ongoing effort to streamline inventory tracking, enhance visibility, and ultimately improve sellers' operational experience. Sellers are advised to stay informed through regular updates on Seller Central and to prepare for the integration of these inventory report changes, which are expected to be completed by mid-2026.
