Amazon UK has announced a new update for sellers using Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) in the United Kingdom and Europe, reducing the maximum box length for new multi-item standard shipments to 63.5 centimetres. The change was officially posted on the Seller Central platform, and applies to shipments bound for fulfilment centres in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK.

The new dimension requirement, effective immediately for new shipments, aims to improve efficiency and speed in Amazon’s fulfilment network. By reducing the maximum box length, Amazon expects to streamline inbound receiving operations and ensure faster processing times for seller inventory.

Key update details:
According to the Seller Central announcement, the new packaging dimension limits are as follows:

1. Maximum length: 63.5 cm (previously 91.4 cm)
2. Maximum width: 63.5 cm (unchanged)
3. Maximum height: 63.5 cm (unchanged)

Amazon has clarified that this change applies only to new FBA shipments. Any boxes exceeding the updated length limit may be refused or could attract unplanned service fees. However, existing shipments already in the fulfilment network will not be affected.

The revised box size standard mainly affects sellers who ship larger or multi-item boxes. Amazon has indicated that maintaining uniformity in box dimensions helps fulfilment centres receive and process inventory more efficiently. Sellers are encouraged to reassess their packaging methods to avoid shipment rejections or additional fees.

This update aligns with Amazon’s ongoing efforts to enhance logistics efficiency and sustainability. Smaller boxes not only optimize warehouse storage and reduce handling time but also lower carbon emissions during transportation. Over the past year, Amazon has been gradually revising packaging and shipment requirements to improve supply chain performance and reduce delays during busy seasons.

Amazon has advised sellers to review their packaging processes and update their shipping plans to meet the new requirements. Those using third-party logistics providers or prep services should communicate the new limits immediately to prevent shipment issues. Detailed guidance on compliant packaging and routing is available under the “Shipping and routing requirements” section on Seller Central.

The reduction in FBA box length to 63.5 cm marks another step by Amazon towards improving operational speed and consistency across its European fulfilment centres. By adhering to these new standards, sellers can ensure their inventory is received quickly, avoid unplanned charges, and maintain smooth business operations throughout the holiday and peak seasons.
