Amazon Expands Buy Shipping With Linked Carrier Account Rates

US sellers can use their negotiated shipping rates while retaining eligible Buy Shipping protections

Seller-fulfilled businesses can now connect eligible carrier accounts to Amazon Buy Shipping and use their negotiated rates when purchasing labels. The option gives sellers more control over shipping costs without requiring them to leave Amazon’s label-buying system. The update was published on Amazon US Seller Central. It is aimed at Fulfilled by Merchant sellers who manage packing and delivery themselves.

Five carrier services supported
According to the Seller Central announcement, sellers can link accounts associated with the following carriers and services:
1. USPS
2. UPS Roadie
3. UPS Mail Innovations
4. OnTrac
5. DHL eCommerce

This can be particularly useful for businesses that have negotiated volume-based rates directly with these carriers. Instead of choosing between their contracted prices and Amazon Buy Shipping, sellers can now bring eligible account rates into the Buy Shipping workflow.

How sellers can benefit
The main advantage is the ability to use a carrier-negotiated rate while purchasing the label through Amazon Buy Shipping. This may help sellers reduce fulfillment expenses when their contracted rates are lower than the rates otherwise displayed. It can also simplify shipping operations because orders, labels and tracking information remain connected to Amazon’s system.

Sellers can compare available shipping methods before purchasing a label. However, they should evaluate the complete cost rather than looking only at the base rate. Residential charges, delivery-area surcharges, fuel costs and other carrier fees may affect the final amount.

Access to Buy Shipping protections
Labels purchased through linked accounts may remain eligible for Amazon Buy Shipping protections. These include on-time delivery rate protection and refunds for qualifying delivery-related claims. Amazon’s guidance says Buy Shipping shipments may qualify for protection against certain A-to-z Guarantee claims involving packages that did not arrive. Eligibility is subject to Amazon’s requirements and the protection status of the selected shipping method.

Sellers should check whether “OTDR Protected” and “Claims Protected” badges appear before buying a label. A service that does not display the applicable protection badge may not receive the same coverage.

For A-to-z claim protection, Amazon says sellers must purchase the label through Buy Shipping, ship the order on time and respond to customer inquiries through Buyer-Seller Messaging within 48 hours. Amazon considers the carrier’s first scan when determining whether an order was shipped on time. Sellers should review the latest Amazon Buy Shipping protection requirements before relying on the coverage.

Carrier will continue to bill the seller
Linking an account does not shift label billing to Amazon. The carrier will continue to charge the seller directly for labels purchased with the linked account. These shipments will count toward any minimum-volume commitment agreed upon between the seller and the carrier. This is valuable for businesses that must maintain a certain shipping volume to retain their negotiated pricing.

Sellers should reconcile carrier invoices against Amazon label records. This can help identify rate adjustments, address corrections or other charges applied after a package enters the carrier’s network.

Support for multiple accounts and locations
Sellers can link multiple carrier accounts and assign them to different ship-from locations. This can benefit businesses operating several warehouses, stores or fulfillment centers.

Amazon has supported more than one account per carrier for US sellers since March 24, 2025. The arrangement allows a seller to use different carrier contracts for separate facilities or business divisions. Details are available on Amazon’s Manage your carrier accounts page. Correct location mapping is important. Sellers should confirm that each account is assigned to the appropriate ship-from address before purchasing labels. An incorrect origin could affect pricing, carrier billing and delivery estimates.

How to link a carrier account
Sellers can begin from Buy Shipping preferences in Seller Central and open Manage your carrier accounts. They can then select the link-account option, choose the relevant carrier and provide the requested account information. After submitting the details, sellers should verify that the account appears as linked. They should also check that the negotiated rate is displayed correctly for an eligible test order before using it across all shipments.

Where sellers can purchase labels
After linking their accounts, sellers can access Amazon Buy Shipping through:
1. Manage Orders in Seller Central
2. Amazon’s Shipping API
3. Veeqo
4. Supported multichannel shipping integrators

Amazon recommends its Shipping API v2 for new shipping-software integrations. Businesses using an order management system should confirm that their integration supports linked carrier accounts and passes the correct ship-from location.

Who should consider using the feature
The update is most relevant to US Fulfilled by Merchant sellers that already have direct carrier agreements. It may also help multichannel sellers that use the same carrier contracts for Amazon and non-Amazon orders. Before switching, sellers should compare their negotiated rates with Amazon’s other available Buy Shipping rates. They should also review pickup arrangements, minimum-volume commitments, claims procedures and invoice surcharges.

Linking carrier accounts gives US sellers a practical way to combine their negotiated shipping prices with Amazon Buy Shipping’s order and label workflow. Eligible shipments may also receive delivery-performance and claims protections.

Sellers should first test the feature with a small number of orders, confirm the rates and protection badges, and review the resulting carrier invoices. A careful comparison can show whether the linked-account option lowers total shipping costs while protecting delivery performance.
