Amazon extends international FBA shipment deadlines for peak season

Amazon extends international FBA shipment deadlines for peak season

Eligible shipment plans receive a 45-day arrival window for related shipments and 90 days before automatic closure, with qualifying defect fees waived

Sellers facing overseas shipping delays have more time to get eligible inventory into Amazon’s US fulfillment network this peak season. Temporary extensions could help reduce certain inbound defect charges while giving delayed shipments additional time before automatic closure.

The update, published on Seller Central, addresses longer ocean transit times, port delays, and customs holds. It applies to international shipment plans created between August 1 and November 30, 2026.

More time for multi-destination shipments
For eligible multi-destination plans, Amazon has increased the arrival window for remaining shipments from 30 to 45 days after the first shipment is received.

Sellers will not be charged the deleted or abandoned shipment defect fee if the remaining shipments are received within that extended period. This gives sellers an additional 15 days when shipments from the same plan reach Amazon at different times.

The eligibility dates refer to when the shipment plan was created. November 30 is therefore the end of the qualifying creation period, rather than a single arrival deadline for all eligible shipments.

Automatic closure extended to 90 days
Amazon has also extended the automatic shipment closure window to 90 days for eligible international shipments.

Its previously published policy set a 75-day window from shipment creation for international shipments originating outside the United States. The temporary extension provides 15 additional days before automatic closure.

Sellers should track these deadlines separately. The 45-day window concerns the gap after the first receipt in a multi-destination plan. The 90-day window concerns automatic closure. Sellers should not interpret the longer closure period as permission to ignore the deadline for related shipments.

Fee waivers and reimbursements are automatic
Eligible defects will remain visible on the Inbound Performance Dashboard, even when the associated fee is waived.

Amazon will automatically reimburse qualifying inbound defect fees already charged. Sellers can review the adjustments in their Reimbursement report. No application or other action is required to receive the changes or reimbursements. The notice does not specify a reimbursement completion date.

Practical checks for sellers
Although the relief is automatic, sellers can benefit from reviewing their shipment records. A useful starting point is to check the plan creation date, the first receipt date, and the progress of each remaining shipment.

Keeping shipment IDs, carrier tracking information, and delivery records together can also make it easier to investigate discrepancies. If an expected reimbursement appears to be missing, sellers can use those records when asking Seller Support to review the charge.

Accurate shipment preparation remains important. Amazon’s published guidance advises sellers to send the quantities and products specified in the approved plan to the assigned fulfillment centers. It also recommends keeping FBA box ID labels clearly visible and coordinating with carriers to deliver to the address shown on those labels.

Extra flexibility for peak-season inventory
The temporary extensions give eligible sellers more room to manage international shipping disruptions and avoid qualifying defect fees. Automatic reimbursements may also help sellers recover charges already incurred.

For inventory planning, however, additional time before a deadline does not guarantee faster delivery or receiving. Sellers should continue monitoring shipments and coordinating with logistics providers so that delayed stock can become available for sale as soon as possible.
