Amazon to simplify FBA parcel fees from October 15
New fee structure simplifies charges and benefits most parcel-size products
Amazon UK has announced a new Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) parcel fee update on Seller Central that will come into effect from October 15, 2025. The update is designed to simplify fee calculations and reduce costs for sellers across multiple product categories.
Fee calculation changes
Earlier this year, Amazon introduced a new fee model in select categories by using only unit weight, instead of the greater of unit weight or dimensional weight, for fulfilment fee calculations. This approach is now being extended to more categories. In addition, Amazon has replaced the older two-tier size system (small and standard) with seven more detailed size tiers. This makes fees more accurate and fair based on actual product sizes.

Categories included in the update
From October 15, the new model will apply to parcel-size products in categories such as baby pushchairs and safety equipment, footwear, eyewear protection, pet clothing and food, mattresses, home linen and rugs, furniture accessories, grocery and gourmet, luggage accessories, printer and scanner accessories, reusable work and safety gloves, and several more.
Expansion across Europe
The changes will first take effect in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain on October 15. From November 1, they will also apply in the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Poland and Ireland. The extension also covers categories such as clothing, accessories, backpacks and handbags, which have not yet adopted the unit-weight-only system in these countries.
Impact on programmes and returns
The update applies to local FBA, Pan-European FBA, the European Fulfilment Network, Remote Fulfilment between the UK and EU, the Ships in Product Packaging programme and returns processing. From November 1, Amazon will also introduce a returns processing fee for backpacks and handbags that record higher-than-average return rates. This is aimed at managing operational costs and reducing waste from excessive returns.
Why this matters for sellers
For most sellers, these changes will result in lower fulfilment fees, especially for products that were earlier charged using dimensional weight. More transparent size tiers will also help sellers better forecast their costs and margins. However, sellers handling categories with high return rates should review their listings and quality checks, as the new return processing fee could impact profitability.
With this update, Amazon is streamlining its FBA fee structure to align better with logistics costs while providing relief to most sellers through reduced charges. Sellers are encouraged to review the detailed summary available on Seller Central under the 2025 FBA fee changes section and adjust their pricing strategies accordingly.
